Yes, it happened again.
I tried my best, but I couldn't keep her out of the freaking tree. I moved the ornaments to what I considered to be a reasonable height, but Abigail decided to take the tree down to her level, and help herself to some more ornaments. Yet another ornament has been sacrificed. It's cheap, glassy Chinese made next of kin should be notified.
I took my remaining ornaments to my parents to put them back into storage until after Christmas, but I am starting to re-think this strategy.
I REALLY need to capture this moment of Christmas horror on video.
It's becoming obvious to me that Abigail is full of the Christmas Spirit. She is excited, yet she hasn't figured out yet that she needs to be on her best behavior at this time of year. She will learn. Hopefully. Then again, she is a cat.
I have a somewhat major announcement to make in the next day or two.

Abigail 1, Christmas Tree 0
It was bound to happen. I had a feeling. I sensed a disturbance in The Force. I knew that Abigail would get very excited about her first Christmas Tree.
3 broken ornaments and 20 minutes of putting a Christmas Tree back together helps a person remember that shiny, dangling objects provide Christmas Day everyday to a young cat.
Sadly, I didn't have the camera ready. I left it in the car. I already repaired the tree.
Something tells me that we will revisit this little episode. I can feel it in The Force.

It Snowed In Houston!
Believe it or not, it snowed in Houston today!
The weather forecasters had been predicting snow most of the week, but typically, most of the locals were more than a little skeptical. We've heard this line before, but today, they got it right.

I wish that I had remembered to take my camera to work this morning. The snow was falling heavily. It looked like the images that you see on TV, and reminded me a lot of the time that I lived in Colorado.

Here is a video of some of the snow.

The snow is gone now. It is just cold and wet. I hope that we get another round of snow sometime soon, but we'll probably have to wait a few more years. Oh well, I enjoyed it!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
Just to set the tone, here is a picture of a large, moist, well-baked Turkey.

Seriously, I hope that each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Even if you aren't able to go be with your family, take a few minutes to give thanks to God, the Universe, a tree stump, or for the environmentalists among us - Al Gore, that you actually woke up this morning. Every day should not be taken for granted. The simplest things that we enjoy every day could be considered a luxury someplace else on this planet. Enjoy your day, eat as much as you want, but don't complain later. I'll see you on the other side of this Thanksgiving.

Happy Birthday Abigail!

Adoption and processing fees at the San Antonio Animal Shelter - $29
Vet fees for shots and other medical exams - $575
Sony Cybershot camera for taking pictures - $279
Getting a cat to cooperate for a picture - Virtually F#cking Impossible
Today is Abigail's 1st birthday. At least I think that it is. When I adopted Abigail from the shelter in San Antonio, she was estimated to be about 5 months old. I adopted Abigail on the 23rd of April, so I just ran back the clock 5 months and gave her November 23rd. Abigail has celebrated in style, sleeping in, eating more food than she should eat, playing with her favorite toys - oh wait, she does all of that every day. I did give her an extra portion of food for her birthday though.

Since Thanksgiving takes place this week, I just want to say that I am thankful to have Abigail. She has brought me a lot of happiness and comfort. I hope that she feels the same way. Something tells me that her life here is a little better than the cage that she was living in at the shelter.
Just because I can, here is a video of Abigail playing with her shoestring. I have bought toys for her, and Ticky was gracious enough to send her some more, but Abigail seems to prefer the simple things in life. Enjoy!

Self-Imposed Hiatus Almost Over
I've been taking a self-imposed hiatus from the blog for various personal reasons. Work (lots of it thankfully), personal matters, and a touch of indifference have all resulted in my not tending to my blog. I will make it up this week before the Thanksgiving break. See you later this week!

Buckykatt Relaxed This Weekend.

Boy oh boy did I need this one. I went up to Austin to visit one of my best friends, JB. He and his girlfriend P just finished building a brand new house out on Lake Travis. It is an incredible house, with the most spectacular view of the lake. P's friend, jokingly known as Aunt B, was there as well (if I keep this up with the , I'm going to start sounding like that retard Guy Fieri). The four of us had a fantastic time together cooking, drinking wine, and taking in the sunsets.

I did NOT want to come home today. However, there is this one small responsibility that I have that is commonly known as a job, and I figured that I needed to keep my responsibilities. After all, if I want to be able to afford to go out of town on the weekends, I need to keep this job thing going.
Staying at JB's new house is like staying at a resort. When I woke up Saturday morning, I saw this from my bed....

We did a lot of cooking together. Friday night was Asian Night. We had a full platter of fresh sushi, steamed edamame, and spring rolls. Saturday night was Greek Fest. We cooked kefta, grilled lamb, tzatziki, pita, Greek salad, roasted vegetables, and some baklava that I brought from a Mediterranean megamart here in Houston.

We ate well. VERY VERY well. The food, the wine, and best of all, the company made this one of the best weekends I have had in a long while.
The views were also amazing. I could have stayed put on the porch all day and night taking it in. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

I needed this.
